T-BIRD – The Thai Business Initiative in Rural Development

The Thai Business Initiative in Rural Development or the T-BIRD project is established by the Population and Community Development Association (PDA) aiming to make use of private business sector resources for the benefit of poor villagers in Thailand’s remote area. Enable villagers to acquire the skills and resources needed to launch and sustain income-generating activities in their own communities and improve their quality of life.
Since 1992 Nestlé Thailand in collaboration with the PDA has supported a budget of 200,000 Baht for the revolving loan fund for the villagers at Bann Mai Sunti, Makluer Sub-district, Soong-noen District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The fund, which managed effectively by the villagers themselves, benefits more than 80 families or over 80% of the total household. The revolving fund does not just remain but has increased continuously.
