Millennials: Continuing Care. Live Balanced Life for Good Health
Millennials: Continuing Care. Leading Balanced Lifestyle for Good Health.
The Millennial generation, age 25-35, are young men and women who dedicated most of their time to work and are interested in technology. Though, they also prioritize lifestyle and health more, whether it is their diet, or physical and mental wellbeing, to cultivate work-life balance.
Nestlé: Pass on Goodness to All
Eat Well for Balanced Lifestyle, Nestlé’s Way
1. Be mindful of what you eat and how much. Include all five food groups proportionately. Adopt the 2:1:1 ratio, that is, two-part fruit or vegetable, one-part rice, and one-part meat. Focus on leafy greens, low-refined rice or carbs, and low-fat meat.
In addition, choose a delicious and healthy dish by changing ingredients. For example, swap omelet for boiled egg, minced pork for lean-cut sliced pork, fatty for lean meat, and coconut curry for clear soup. Alternately, opt for cooking methods like boiling, steaming, making spicy salad, and grilling, rather than stir- or deep-frying. You can also choose tasty foods that has great nutrient pairing, which will maximize their benefits to your body, for example:
- Whole-grain cereal with yogurt is a nutrient-packed breakfast for Millennials. The cereal is made from whole grains, full of iron and calcium, as well as fiber that improves bowel movement. Yogurt contains probiotics, which keep your intestinal bacteria balanced and boost immunity.
- Shrimp paste fried rice contains nutrition’s dynamic duo: calcium in dried shrimp and shrimp paste and vitamin D in egg and pork. Vitamin D increases intestinal calcium absorption by as much as 30-40%. Millennials can also drink two glasses or cartons of vitamin D milk to strengthen their bones and teeth, as well as slow down or prevent future bone diseases.
- Lemon tea is made from catechin-rich tea (the compound has potent antioxidant properties) and vitamin C-rich lemon. So, lemon tea is a drink that boost freshness and immunity for your body.
2. Look for Healthier Choice logo. Before buying foods, look for a Healthier Choice nutritional logo that indicates a product contains the amount of sugar, fat, and sodium that meet its criteria. This can help you choose foods with proper nutritional benefits. You can also recommend this to your family and friends so that they too can be healthy.
Examples of Nestlé’s Healthier Choice-certified products are: Dairy and UHT milk; Nesvita Instant Cereal Beverage; Nestlé’s ice cream under the brands Eskimo, Milo, and La Frutta; and Milo Chocolate Malt Drink. Nestlé will continue to develop our food and beverage to be nutritious, with flavors that you love, to remain healthy choices for consumers.
3. Increase metabolism by moving a little more. Adjust your everyday behaviors to correlate with your dietary habits, in order to achieve metabolic balance. The more you eat, the more you should be physically active. The easy ways are: doing chores, opting for stairs than elevators, getting off a bus before your actual stop, parking further away from your destination, going to the further restroom, aiming to walk 10,000 steps a day. These are things you can do to stretch your muscles and burn excess calories.
4. Take a break from stressful work or activity and boost your energy with tasty and nourishing snacks or desserts, such as:
- Wafer fingers in milk chocolate is a great option since flavonoids in chocolate trigger the body to release endorphins, a happiness hormone to lighten your mood.
- Cereal beverage is a source of fiber from whole grains, which can fill your stomach and is abundant in calcium.
No matter how busy with work, one should make health a priority. Our tips above can help the Millennial generation take care of their health every day conveniently. Moreover, they can pass on love and care to their loved ones through Nestlé’s products. Our nutrients have been carefully selected for each and every generation, with delicious tastes that satisfy new-era consumers and fast-paced, but health-conscious, lifestyle.
