Nestlé Volunteers Transform Cow Dung into Value for Dairy Farmers in Chum Phuang, Promoting Regenerative Agriculture Practices.

Dairy farms are essential sources of raw materials for the food industry, and proper farm management can enhance cost efficiency, improve milk quality, and reduce environmental impacts. As part of the Nestlé CARES initiative, Nestlé employee volunteers recently supported Chum Phuang Dairy Cooperative farms in Nakhon Ratchasima Province by working with dairy farmers to build cement platforms for air drying cow dung, which not only translates to more income for the dairy farmers but also is better for the environment by reducing environmental impact, following our Regenerative Agriculture efforts which focus on constructively managing farm waste to benefit both the farmers and the planet.
Key Benefits of Innovative Waste Management in Dairy Farming:
- From Waste to Value: Farmers can dry cow dung on the new concrete area, turning it into nutrient-rich fertilizer for their forage fields or selling it as organic fertilizer for additional income.
- Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Drying manure on a concrete surface shortens drying time, significantly reducing methane emissions compared to drying on soil.
- Improving Community Hygiene: This structured drying process minimizes contamination of soil and water, contributing to better hygiene and health within the community.
