Bangkok – 26 August 2019: Nestlé today announced the launch of a new range of Starbucks premium coffee capsules in Thailand. These are the first-ever Starbucks capsules developed using Nescafé Dolce Gusto’s proprietary coffee and system technologies.

The launch comes after Nestlé and Starbucks formally created a coffee alliance in August last year. Through the global coffee alliance, Nestlé has the perpetual rights to market Starbucks Consumer Packaged Goods and Foodservice coffee and tea products around the world, outside of Starbucks locations and excluding Ready-to-Drink products. The alliance will consolidate Nestlé’s leading position in the global coffee business and expand the global reach of the Starbucks brands in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and Foodservice.

The announcement is part of the expansion of the alliance to Thailand. The move capitalizes on Nestlé’s rich coffee experience, its coffee and system know-how and distribution excellence. It also builds on Starbucks legacy and firm premium position of high-quality coffees and signature flavors.

Victor Seah, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Nestlé Indochina, said, “The coffee capsules segment is growing fast Thailand. We are very pleased to expand the Starbucks experience to Thai consumers with the new Starbucks coffee capsules to enjoy at home for the first time. The alliance with Starbucks will help unlock new opportunities in the coffee market in Thailand. Starbucks at home is the first of many new products that will launch under the global coffee alliance. We know it will delight Thai coffee lovers and reinforce Nestlé’s position in the coffee category in the market.”

The new range of coffee capsules includes a variety of signature Starbucks blends and single-origin coffees such as Cappuccino and Colombia Espresso. All products are made from high-quality 100% Arabica coffee, ethically sourced from farmers in the world’s premier coffee growing regions. The products will be available in leading supermarkets nationwide, and on major online platforms.

Through the Starbucks Coffee at Home segment, consumers can easily prepare and enjoy a fresh cup of their favorite Starbucks signature flavors in the comfort of their home using the Nescafé Dolce Gusto system. The coffee capsule technology enables roast and ground coffee to be sealed in freshness that lasts over a long period.

Mr. Jojo Dela Cruz, Business Executive Officer – Coffee and Creamer Business Unit, Nestlé (Thai) Ltd., said, “More and more Thai coffee lovers are starting to enjoy roast and ground fresh coffee in the comfort of their homes, using the NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto coffee capsule system. We also have the largest coffee subscription platform in Thailand, with around 5,000 active subscribers. With STARBUCKS Coffee at Home signature blends, we believe that the overall café-at-home experience will be even more delightful, as we bring in additional coffee capsule choices for our consumers to enjoy.

Now you can enjoy STARBUCKS Coffee At Home premium coffee capsules at 299 baht per pack of 12, from leading supermarkets nationwide, and on major online platforms. The products that will be initially launched in coffee capsules format are as follows:
-Starbucks Espresso Roast

-Starbucks House Blend Americano
-Starbucks Cappuccino
Note: There is no plan at the moment to sell Starbucks coffee capsules in Starbucks retail outlets.
